Efficient Use of CDK Service System

In this document, we will walk through the process of utilizing the CDK Service system effectively. This guide is intended for technicians to integrate information with the Dealer Management System (DMS). It outlines best practices from a technician's perspective, ensuring a smooth workflow within the system.

    Step 1

We will begin from Unify, starting right from the basics. Ensure you are well-prepared before proceeding.

    Step 2

Technicians using CDK Service should have access to a tutorial, either through e-learning or a virtual instructor-led course. This guide will cover essential information and the general workflow that a technician would follow to ensure that information integrates seamlessly with the DMS. The steps provided will highlight best practices from a technician's viewpoint.

    Step 3

Once logged into Unify, access CDK Service as a technician. This grants access to the technician's RO dashboard, represented by the icon of a car on a lift. Click this button to proceed. Upon entering the RO dashboard, a search filter is available, allowing searches by RO tag number or the customer's last name.

    Step 4

An advisor filter is accessible by clicking on the Advisor button. This feature enables filtering the list by a specific advisor. Initially, when a technician logs in, the view is tailored specifically for the technician's use.

    Step 5

Permissions at your dealership will dictate visibility. If authorized by your service advisor or manager, you may view all technicians' ROs. This option depends on the permissions set at your dealership.

    Step 6

The boxes displayed represent the RO dash. Service advisors have a similar view, but tailored to their perspective. Technicians use these boxes to begin, finalize inspections, initiate any additional service recommendations, and address initial customer concerns, subsequently sending them for review.

The workflow through these boxes involves managing responsibilities within the RO dash. We'll discuss the technician's role and workflow requirements in these steps. Filters on the right adjust the dashboard view.
