This document provides instructions on how to activate and configure the live interpreter feature in Microsoft 365 or Copilot 365. This tool overlays an additional voice onto your own, translating your speech in real-time. The following steps will guide you through accessing and setting up the interpreter to ensure optimal usage.
Locate the three-dot menu, commonly referred to as 'More.'

Select the three-dot menu, navigate to "Language & Speech," and remain in this section to proceed.

Enable the interpreter feature, a new addition to Microsoft 365 or Copilot 365, available to users with a Copilot license.

Activating this feature will add another voice overlaying yours, providing live translations. Expect a slight delay, similar to having a live translator present.

Proceed to the interpreter settings and activate it. No need for concern.

Ensure that the interpreter is activated solely for yourself, not for others on the call. You can manage these settings to select the language for translation.

Set your preferred language, ideally your native or most comfortable language, activate the interpreter, and adjust the volume to hear the translated voice.

By default, the volume might be centered. Adjust the toggle to the right to focus more on the translated voice.

When using the translation feature, it might be beneficial to minimize the original voice to reduce confusion caused by delay. Experiment with the settings as needed.

Enjoy the functionality, and remember you can customize these settings according to your preferences.

If the interpreter is activated for you, where your speech is translated, decide if others hear an AI-generated voice or your original one. Currently, listeners hear your voice translated into another language, such as via the persona 'Sophia.'
