This document provides step-by-step instructions on configuring advanced functions in Quote Studio, part of the Zuora platform. These configurations can enhance and streamline the quoting process by enabling various features and settings.
CPQX offers the option to enable advanced functions required for the quoting process. To access these settings, navigate to Zuora Config and select Quote Studio Settings.

From the list of tabs on the left, select Admin Config. Here you will find features supporting a standard quoting process, as well as experimental configurations. Let's begin with those related to the standard quoting process.

Enable the "Show CPQX button in edit product" option to minimize adaptation friction from legacy CPQ. This allows you to use the edit product feature directly in the existing quote flow. Activating this toggle displays the CPQX button on both the edit product and charge pages, as well as the quote detail page.

This feature enables you to switch to Quote Studio at any time. After enabling it, save your settings, then navigate to the quote page. Clicking on Edit Product will reveal a Checkout CPQX button.

Click on this button to proceed. Now, let's examine the next settings available.

Enable the "Navigate to Quote Studio After Select Products" setting. With this active, once products are selected through guided selling, you are directed to Quote Studio for final review or pricing configurations before submitting the quote. This also applies to products chosen from the legacy CPQ9 product selector.

Save your changes and return to the Quote Studio page. After adding products...

After selecting a product on this quote, click Next.

This action navigates to CPQX, where you can review pricing and submit the quote to Zuora. Now, return to the configuration page.

Next, consider the "Rules Engine for Quote Studio" setting. By default, rules defined in the rules engine work for Zuora quotes only, not CPQ. Enable this option to make rules available in Quote Studio.

This is critical for ramp deals and future-dated actions, as the rules engine is not inherently time-aware or supported in CPQX for scenarios with multiple charge segments. Enabling this setting reveals two additional options.

The first is "Disable Information Model Popup When Rules Trigger." Enabling this prevents the Rules Notification modal from appearing automatically.

Instead, users must click the notification icon manually. If disabled, the modal appears whenever a rule is triggered. Enable both settings, then proceed to "Display Rule Name and Rules Message."

By default, rule names are shown in the rules popup. If you disable this option...

...the rule names are hidden, displaying only the rule message. Enable this setting so that...

...when a rule is executed, both the message, the rule name, and the rule message are visible. Next, consider enabling "Ramp Deal Creation in Quote Studio." This feature can be toggled on or off.

If disabled, the creation of new ramp codes is not possible. Existing ramp actions will be visible, but without intervals.

Note that even if "Enable Ramp Metrics" is not active, Quote Studio still supports ramp deals, though the structure won't be visible in Zuora Billing. Enable this setting to create ramp deals. Then, consider "Pass QRPC Field to Zuora Billing for ELP Calculation."

When enabled, you can automatically pass list price values from the quote rate plan charges to Zuora as the original list price. Both list price and effective price are transmitted, ensuring seamless integration.

Next, enable "Enable OLI Creation in Quote Studio." CPQX supports non-subscription business models via order line items. This setting adds a non-subscription item section on the Quote Studio page, allowing you to search for existing one-time charges.

Additionally, create ad hoc quote line items from the quote page by enabling the "Allow Ad Hoc OLI Creation" option. Activating this allows the creation of new ad hoc quote line items.

A "New Quote Line Item" button will appear. First, disable this option, save your settings, and navigate to the quote page.

A "Quote Line Items" section is now visible. Return to Zuora configuration and enable "Allow Ad Hoc OLI Creation." Once active, you can browse one-time charges from your product catalog to add as quote line items.

To create ad hoc quote line items, enable the other options. Go back, activate "Allow Ad Hoc OLI Creation," and save.

Return to the Quote Studio page and click Back.

The "New Quote Line Item" button is now visible. Clicking this allows you to create a new ad hoc quote line item and attach it to your quote. Finally, navigate back to Zuora Config.
