Integrating Shopify Metafields for Customer Loyalty Data

This process explains how to enable and configure the Shopify Metafields integration so that customer loyalty data (such as tier and coin balance) is automatically synced to Shopify customer metafields. Once configured, you can use this data directly in your store’s UI without making additional API calls.

Step 1: Navigate to the Metafields Integration

From the left-hand menu of your dashboard, go to Integration and then click on Metafields.

Step 2: Open Shopify Metafields Configuration

After clicking Metafields, you will see the Shopify Metafields option.

Click on Configure to open the configuration settings.

Step 3: Enable the Metafields Integration

In the configuration screen, set the Status to Enable.

Once enabled, allow up to 5 minutes for the changes to take effect before proceeding.

Step 4: Create a New Event

After the status is enabled and has had time to reflect, go to Create Event.

Click on Create Event to start defining the event that will sync customer data.

Step 5: Configure the Event to Update Shopify Metafields

In the event configuration:

1. Select the Property as Customer is Updated.

2. Set the destination to Shopify metafield so that updated customer data is sent there.
3. Click on Create to save the event.

This setup will automatically send all loyalty-related customer data (such as the customer’s tier and coin balance) to Shopify customer metafields.

Step 6: Use Customer Loyalty Data from Shopify Metafields

Once the integration is active and events are configured:

• Customer loyalty data will be automatically synced to Shopify.
• You can access this data directly from Shopify customer metafields.
• You can build your own UI components in your storefront to display loyalty information (tier, coins, etc.) without relying on additional APIs or making extra API calls.
