This document provides step-by-step instructions on how to effectively manage future dated updates and modify product listings within a new subscription quote using Zuora. The process involves adding new products, scheduling precise updates, and removing existing items from a quote before it is finalized and submitted to Zoho Billing. Understanding the distinction between future dated updates and ramp deals is crucial to executing these tasks successfully.
Begin by adding future dated updates and removing products from a new subscription quote. This demo focuses on adding new products, scheduling precise updates, and removing existing products from a quote before it has been submitted to Zoho Billing. It is essential to grasp the concept of a future dated update versus a ramp deal.

Understand that this action is distinct from a ramp deal. Future dated updates are individual manual changes to a product's price, quantity, or renewal date, scheduled as one-time events. Conversely, a ramp deal involves structured, predefined segment changes that apply to the entire product rate plan charge over time.

In this demonstration, we will learn to execute future dated updates and add or remove products from a new subscription quote. We have created a new subscription quote, similar to those in previous demos, identified by quote number 108.

This quote has not yet been sent to Zoho, so the Zoho subscription ID remains unpopulated.

We are currently on the Quote Details page. The customer has agreed to a price increase, and the quote includes two products.

The quote includes a cloud storage standard plan with a flat fee and a monthly recurring fee, along with an add-on product for the analytics dashboard. The customer has agreed to a price increase on the monthly plan after the first quarter. They intend to use the dashboard for the first six months and remove it afterward.

Instead of the dashboard, the customer wishes to add another add-on product for storage. To implement these changes, click on the dropdown and select the Edit Quote New button.

This button, added to the page layout, is used to access or edit the quote using Quote Studio.

Without making changes to the quote, proceed directly to the product selection section. Here, you will find two products listed. The customer has accepted a price increase for the monthly recurring fee from $12 to $13, effective March 1, 2026.

To apply this update, click the Future Dated Update button. In the pop-up window, define when the update should take effect.

You can create a mid-interval update for this product. As mentioned, the price increase will be effective from March 1, 2026. Select the date using the calendar and click Confirm.

A new row will appear below the charge label indicating the updated contract effective price as March 1, 2026. Click on the date to view additional details, such as the contract effective date, service activation date, and customer acceptance date.

You can activate this update before the scheduled future date using a toggle button. However, since we aim to make a future dated update, leave it as is and click Confirm. To update the price, click on the effective price field, make the necessary changes, and click anywhere outside to see the updated effective price.

Now that the product is updated, let's proceed with scheduling the future removal of the cloud storage analytics product, as agreed by the customer for use only during the first quarter.

To schedule the removal, click the Future Dated Remove button.

Define the effective date for the product removal.

Schedule the removal for the end of January, after three quarters starting from October 31. Confirm the removal for the end of January.

A new row will indicate that the product will be removed on January 31, 2026. You also have the option to revert these changes. Additionally, the customer requested to add the storage option after six months.

To add the storage product after six months, click on browse products. Use the product catalog to find cloud storage options.

In the add-ons plan, select the storage backup add-on. Click to add this product and confirm your selection.

Adjust the effective date for this product from October 30 to May 1, 2026. Make the necessary changes to the order action.

Click on the date field to change the contract effective date.

Set the new effective date to May 1, 2026. All other dates will adjust accordingly. Click confirm to finalize the addition of this product on May 1, 2026, while the other two products will be added in May.

By October 30, 2026, the dashboard will be removed on January 31, 2026, and the cloud storage monthly plan will receive a price update on March 1, 2026.

After completing these future updates, click save.

The quote is now saved, and you can see the subscription charges are calculated.

Review the metrics details. Once satisfied with the quote, click submit.

The quote is now ready to be sent to Zoho.

Click submit.

The quote has been successfully sent to Zoho. Click OK. The quote number is 108. Navigate back to Zoho Billing and click on Subscriptions.

Locate subscription 80. Click to open the subscription details.

Scroll down to see the order name. Click the order number dropdown to view the different order actions triggered. The storage analytics add-on is effective from October 30, 2025.
