This document outlines the procedure for updating the knowledge base in Retell AI. A knowledge base is a critical repository of information that your AI agent accesses during interactions. Regular updates are essential to keep the knowledge base current, especially when there are changes to operating hours, product offerings, or services.
All of your relevant business knowledge for your agent is directly derived from a master file.
The knowledge is categorised and uploaded into your agent's knowledge base. To update or modify this information, the first step is to edit the master file.
After updating the master file, download it as a CSV format. This is followed by updating the Retell AI knowledge base with the new file. As an example, let’s change the operating hours and navigate through the process.
Open the master file.
The master file is typically a Google Sheet or Excel file. Locate the section listing in your operating hours and make the necessary edits. For instance, adjust the hours for public holidays like Christmas Day or New Year’s Day.
Once the edits are made, download the master file as a CSV. In Google Sheets, go to File, select Download, and choose CSV. In Excel, navigate to File, select Save As, and choose CSV from the Format dropdown. Save the file in an easily accessible location, such as the Desktop or Downloads folder. Then, proceed to your retail dashboard.
Navigate to your Retell AI Dashboard.
Upon reaching the dashboard, locate the Knowledge Base tab and click on it. This section displays all the knowledge bases created during your build. Click on the knowledge base you wish to update, specifically the one containing your operating hours information.
Inside the knowledge base, you'll see existing files are listed. To update the file, you'll need to delete the outdated file and upload your new version.
Click on Upload File or use the Add button if the old file was removed. Select the new CSV file and give it a moment to upload. Once the upload is complete, the update is finalised.
In summary, the process involves updating your master file, downloading it as a CSV, accessing your dashboard, and uploading the new file into the Knowledge Base tab to replace the old one. With these updates, your agent is equipped with the latest information.
