In this process, you will learn how to create a ramp deal quote using Zuora. A ramp deal is a quote that includes time-based pricing adjustments for product changes over a subscription term. This feature allows sales representatives to manage complex deals that adapt over time. The steps outlined will guide you through configuring and creating a ramp deal, enabling your organization to effectively meet evolving customer needs.
Begin by creating a ramp deal quote. A ramp deal is structured to include time-based pricing for product changes over the subscription term. When the Ramp Deal feature is enabled in Zuora, sales representatives can efficiently manage complex deals that evolve over time.

Ramp deals, which allow for adjustments like increasing product quantity, pricing modifications, or the introduction of new add-ons in later periods, are supported for new, amendment, and renewal quotes. This provides flexibility when working with customers whose needs change over multiple years or billing periods. Now, let's examine the settings related to ramp deals.

In the default settings, ramp frequency is available with options such as quarterly and semi-annual. Now, let's also add the annual option.

The default ramp frequency is set to quarterly. Save these settings.

In the admin configuration, ensure that the "Enable Ramp Deal Creation in Quote Studio" option is selected. With these configurations, you can now start creating a quote with ramps.

Navigate to the opportunity page.

Open the opportunity for your customer, Greenfield Enterprise. They are expanding their use of cloud storage services. Initially, they want a plan for the first year with a minimal number of licenses, then gradually scale up capacity and pricing in the following years. You will create a ramp deal quote that automatically adjusts pricing and quantity over three years.

Begin creating a quote by clicking on "New Quote/New Bundle."

With the GammaBlue account selected, proceed to create a new quote.

Review the quote details.

Enter the start date as November 1st, 2025, and set the validity for one year. Proceed to the subscription details section.

Select "Term Subscription" and enable the ramp feature. The default ramp frequency is quarterly, but you can switch to annual if needed. In the terms and conditions section, set the quote to a three-year duration, making it 36 months.

The renewal term is six months. With all other details populated, scroll down to the "Browse Product" section. As this is a ramp deal, there will be three ramp details.

Click "Add Product" and select the cloud storage base plan. Add the cloud storage license plan, which includes an access fee and a license plan costing $40 per license per month, along with a monthly cloud storage fee of $12. Then click "Add."

From the add-ons, select the analytics add-on for Greenfield Enterprise, priced at $2 per month. Click "Add Selections" once chosen.

In the product section, three tabs are visible: Ramp Interval 1, Ramp Interval 2, and Ramp Interval 3. Ramp Interval 1 spans from November 1st, 2025, to October 31st, 2026. Ramp Interval 2 covers from November 1st, 2026, to October 31st, 2027. Ramp Interval 3 is from November 1st, 2027, to October 31st, 2028.

Currently, you are on the Ramp Interval 1 tab. The details for products like the cloud storage license plan and the cloud storage analytics add-on are visible. Greenfield Enterprise will start with one license as per their minimal plan requirement.

In the next year, they will increase their licenses to 10, and in the third year, they plan to increase the number of licenses to 15.

From November 1st to October 31st, they will use just one license. In the second year, the number of licenses will increase to 10.

Now you have created a quote for three intervals.

This includes Ramp Interval 2 and Ramp Interval 3. Save the quote.

You can now view the quote metrics calculations for each ramp interval.

Find the ramp metrics for all three ramp intervals. For each ramp, you can view the calculated metrics by clicking on the charge details and the quote metrics icon.

With all information entered,

proceed to save the quote by clicking on "Submit."

The quote now includes three ramp intervals with the respective product details. This concludes the demonstration.
