This document provides a step-by-step guide to setting up the Autonomous Single App Mode on a Mac OS using Hexnode UM. This feature locks the device to a single application, restricting access to other applications and system settings, making it ideal for controlled environments such as classrooms or dedicated workstations. It is compatible with Mac OS version 10.3.4 and later, and can only be used with applications that support ASM.
To begin, log into the Hexnode portal. Once logged in, navigate to the 'Policies' tab. You have the option to create a new policy or select an existing one.

Select the option to create a new policy for configuring the Autonomous Single App Mode.

Choose the appropriate platform, then click 'Next' and select 'Kiosk Policy'.

Within the Mac OS Kiosk lockdown section, select 'Autonomous Single App Mode'.

Click on 'Configure'. This mode allows an app to run in the foreground without disrupting other apps or notifications. Use the plus icon to choose the app(s) from the inventory.

Click 'Done' once you have selected the app(s).

Ensure the chosen app is already installed on the device. If not, install it first using the 'Install Application' action or by editing the required policy apps.

Proceed to the policy targets to determine where to apply the policy. You can choose devices, device groups, users, or domains.

Press 'Save' to apply the selected policy targets. Once the policy syncs, the device will automatically log into the specified app when launched.

On the device end, once the configured app opens, the Mac enters kiosk mode. Users cannot switch to other apps, access Finder, or modify system settings. The session will remain active until the user logs out, completes the task, or the configured time limit expires, after which the device will exit kiosk mode and revert to normal.

This completes the configuration of Autonomous Single App Mode for Mac OS using Hexnode UM. This method is a secure and straightforward way to ensure Macs are focused on a single approved workflow. For more details or assistance, please contact support.
