This guide provides a comprehensive walkthrough on locking an Apple TV into single-app kiosk mode using Hexnode UEM. This mode is perfect for scenarios like digital signage, retail displays, or specific enterprise functions by restricting the device to a single application.
Log into your Hexnode UEM portal. Navigate to the Policies section to begin the process of locking an Apple TV into single-app mode.

In the Policies section, click on "New Policy". You can either create a new policy or select an existing template. Next, select the platform as Apple TV.

Select the "Kiosk" option to view available policy configurations.

Within the "Kiosk Lockdown" section, locate and click on the "Single App" option, then proceed to configure it.

Click on the plus icon to add an app to kiosk mode.

Ensure the selected app is pre-installed on the Apple TV before adding it to kiosk mode.

If the app is not pre-installed, the device might freeze and become inoperable. You will need to remove the profile to restore functionality.

Be aware that only one kiosk profile can be active on an Apple TV at any time. If the Apple TV loses its network connection while in kiosk mode, remote changes are not possible. Hexnode allows for advanced kiosk settings for supervised Apple TVs on tvOS 10.2 and above, including disabling touch input, preventing auto-lock, and enabling features like voiceover, zoom, or invert colors.

Users can manually toggle these accessibility features using the Apple TV remote. Once the kiosk policy is set, you can assign it to devices.

Go to "Policy Targets", click "Add Devices", select the desired devices, click "OK", and then "Save".

The created policy will be visible. You can save or later modify this policy under the Policies section.

To associate the policy with specific targets, click "Manage", then "Associate Targets", and choose the desired devices or device groups.

Congratulations! Your Apple TV is now securely locked into a single application using Hexnode's kiosk lockdown, ensuring the device serves its intended purpose with ease and precision for users and administrators alike.

Thank you for following along.
