This process describes the steps to amend a subscription quote within a billing system. The aim is to demonstrate how a sales representative can upgrade, downgrade, add, or remove products or change terms for an existing subscription, all within the system. This guide is crucial for accurately reflecting customer requirements and maintaining seamless subscription management.
Create an amendment quote. Once the quote has been sent to Zuora, the subscription becomes active. To amend this subscription, a sales representative can modify it by creating an amendment quote.

We will use the same subscription created in the previous demo. Common amendment scenarios for a subscription include upgrading or downgrading a plan, adding or removing a product, changing quantity or price, renewing, or canceling. Let's return to Salesforce, where the quote from the previous step is ready.

To amend the subscription, select the quote from the account. Navigate to the accounts page, choose the customer account, and click on the "New Quote" button.

We are now at the initial stage, where we need to select the billing account and the subscription. With the billing account selected as Hema Blue, which is the subscription we intend to edit or amend, we can view the list of subscriptions related to this account, namely 78 and 80.

The subscription we are amending is 80. Select this subscription, identify it, and click on "Amend."

Proceed by clicking "Amend."

In this scenario, the customer, Greenfield Enterprise, is using the Cloud Storage Base Plan but now requires more capacity and advanced features. They will create an amendment quote to upgrade their subscription to Cloud Storage Premium and extend the subscription for another year.

These two are the charges from the original quote, and they cannot be deleted.

Increase the initial term to 18 months.

Add the Cloud Storage Premium plan.

Make the changes effective from July 1, 2026.

With the amendments completed, click "Save."

Once the quote is saved, you can view the delta metrics values and the details under each plan.

Review the quote metrics. After examining the metrics, send the quote for customer approval.

Once approved, the quote can be sent to Zuora. For now, click "Save" to save it.

Click "Submit."

With the quote submitted, send it to Zuora.

The quote has been successfully sent to Zuora. Click "Okay." Now, let's go back to Zoho Billing and review the subscription changes. Refresh the page.

Upon refreshing, you will notice that version one is marked as expired. Open the subscription from the "Subscriptions" tab.

On opening the subscription, version two of the subscription is active. Scrolling further down, version two can be seen, along with the order details.

There has been a change in order terms and conditions. The contract term has been extended from 12 to 18 months, with an add-on product added as Cloud Storage Premium. Scroll down to the "Included Products" section to see the changes.

The premium product has been added.

Here are notes and tips for beginners: When should you amend versus creating a new quote? If the customer is altering the current subscription, such as the plan, price, or quantity, use an amendment quote.

Only create a new subscription if it is a completely new contract. The delta metrics displayed on the quote page help you understand the financial impact of changes before sending it to Zoho. In this demonstration, we upgraded Greenfield Enterprises from Cloud Storage Standard to Cloud Storage Premium by generating an amendment quote.

By extending the quote's term, the customer remains on a single continuous subscription while their services evolve to meet new needs.
